- 2 lbs beef chuck, cut into cubes
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1 celery stalk, diced
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery; sauté until softened.
- Add the beef cubes and brown on all sides.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes and beef broth; bring to a simmer.
- Cover and cook on low heat for 1.5 to 2 hours until the beef is tender.
- Stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese; cook for an additional 10 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve over pasta or polenta, garnished with fresh basil.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes.
- This dish can be made ahead and reheated.
