- 1 tablespoon Granulated Sugar (for topping)
Instructions
- Prep the Bread: Slice fresh bread or allow stale bread to dry slightly.
- Make the Custard Mixture: Whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
- Soak the Bread: Dip each slice into the custard mixture, soaking briefly on each side.
- Heat the Pan: Preheat a frying pan over medium heat with a splash of butter.
- Cook the French Toast: Cook the soaked slices for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Prepare for Brûlée: Transfer cooked slices to a baking sheet and sprinkle with sugar.
- Caramelize the Sugar: Use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar until golden, or broil in the oven for a few minutes.
