Description

Ingredients

  • 4 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Whole Milk
  • 1/2 cup Heavy Cream

  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated Sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Bread: Slice fresh bread or allow stale bread to dry slightly.
  2. Make the Custard Mixture: Whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  3. Soak the Bread: Dip each slice into the custard mixture, soaking briefly on each side.
  4. Heat the Pan: Preheat a frying pan over medium heat with a splash of butter.
  5. Cook the French Toast: Cook the soaked slices for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Prepare for Brûlée: Transfer cooked slices to a baking sheet and sprinkle with sugar.
  7. Caramelize the Sugar: Use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar until golden, or broil in the oven for a few minutes.
