Description

A delightful Hawaiian pizza that balances sweet caramelized pineapple, crispy bacon, and creamy mozzarella on a perfect crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/4 tsp chile flakes
  • 3 1/2-inch thick slices fresh pineapple
  • 1/2 recipe artisan pizza dough
  • 1/3 cup pizza sauce
  • 4 oz shredded low-moisture mozzarella
  • 2 oz prosciutto, torn into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/4 cup pickled jalapeños

Instructions

  1. Place your pizza steel or stone in the oven and preheat to 500°F for 45 minutes.
  2. Flour your pizza peel generously to prevent sticking.
  3. Cook the bacon slices in a large cast iron skillet over medium heat until golden brown and crispy, about 15 minutes.
  4. Transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate, leaving 1 tablespoon of grease in the pan.
  5. Add butter, honey, and chile flakes to the pan, stirring until melted.
  6. Increase the heat and add the pineapple slices, cooking until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes.
  7. Flip the pineapple slices and cook for another 5 minutes until tender and caramelized.
  8. Chop the pineapple and set aside.
  9. Flatten the dough ball into a large disk, stretching it into a 12-inch circle.
  10. Spread pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border.
  11. Sprinkle mozzarella evenly over the sauce, then add caramelized pineapple, bacon, and prosciutto.
  12. Slide the pizza onto the steel and bake for 5 minutes.
  13. Turn on the broiler and broil for an additional 2-4 minutes.
  14. Cool slightly, then top with pickled jalapeños before slicing and serving.

Notes

You can use turkey bacon for a lighter option or omit the meats for a vegetarian version. Experiment with different toppings like bell peppers or fresh basil.
