Description

A crusty loaf of garlic-infused bread filled with tender Philly cheesesteak meat, provolone cheese, caramelized onions, and green peppers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Loaf frozen French garlic bread (12 oz)
  • 8 oz Philly cheesesteak meat
  • 2 cups shredded provolone cheese
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Medium onion, chopped
  • 1 Green bell pepper, chopped
  • Olive oil
  • Garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the garlic bread package (usually around 375°F / 190°C).
  2. In a skillet, pour a splash of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper, seasoning with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Sauté until they soften, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the Philly cheesesteak meat and Worcestershire sauce. Cook until the beef browns, stirring occasionally, about 5-6 minutes.
  4. Stir the sautéed veggies into the beef mixture until well combined and heated through.
  5. Slice the pre-baked garlic bread down the center lengthwise and spread the cheesy beef and veggie mixture over each half.
  6. Pile the shredded provolone cheese on top and return the bread to the oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Allow to cool for a minute before slicing into portions and serving.

Notes

Make ahead by preparing the beef and vegetable mixture a day in advance. Assemble and bake when ready to serve.
