Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fill each cupcake liner halfway with batter.
- Place a teaspoon of heart-shaped jam in the center of each cupcake.
- Top with more batter until the liners are about ¾ full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cupcakes cool completely before frosting.
- For the frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
