Description

A classic comfort food dish featuring seasoned ground beef patties smothered in a rich mushroom gravy, perfect for a hearty dinner.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms and cook until softened.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir to combine. Gradually add beef broth, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  5. Add soy sauce and garlic powder to the gravy, then return the patties to the skillet. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Serve the Salisbury steak with gravy over mashed potatoes or rice.

  • For added flavor, you can include herbs like thyme or parsley.
  • Serve with your choice of vegetables for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
