Description

A mouthwatering Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich featuring crispy fried chicken, spicy cayenne heat, and a tangy pickle crunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or breasts)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups vegetable or peanut oil (for frying)
  • 1/2 cup cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 4 brioche buns
  • Dill pickle chips (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Heat the oil in a Dutch oven or deep pot to 325°F (160°C).
  3. Dredge the marinated chicken in the seasoned flour mixture and fry for 6-8 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Prepare the hot sauce by mixing hot frying oil, cayenne pepper, brown sugar, and smoked paprika in a bowl.
  5. Assemble the sandwich by dipping fried chicken in hot sauce, placing it on a toasted brioche bun, and topping with dill pickle chips before serving.

Notes

For a lighter version, use an air fryer or bake the chicken in the oven at 425°F (220°C). Marinate overnight for maximum flavor. Adjust the cayenne pepper to control the heat level.
