Description

Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef tips (chuck or sirloin)
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons flour (optional for thickening)
  • Mashed potatoes (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil: In a large skillet, drizzle in 1 tablespoon of olive oil and heat over medium-high.
  2. Sear the beef: Add 1 pound of beef tips to the pan. Sear until browned on all sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  3. Sauté onions and garlic: Toss in 1 sliced onion and 2 cloves of minced garlic. Sauté until the onions become soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add broth and Worcestershire: Pour in 2 cups beef broth and 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, scraping the fond off the bottom.
  5. Simmer to tenderness: Bring to a gentle simmer, then lower heat and let cook for about 30 minutes.
  6. Thicken the gravy: Whisk together 2 tablespoons of flour with water to create a slurry. Stir it into the skillet.
  7. Season and serve: Taste and season with salt and pepper. Serve over creamy mashed potatoes.
