- 300 g Pasta (e.g., Penne)
- 1 Broccoli (approx. 400 g)
- 1 Onion
- 2 Garlic Cloves
- 1 Can Chopped Tomatoes (400 g)
- 200 ml Cream
- 150 g Cream Cheese
- 150 g Grated Cheese (e.g., Gouda or Emmental)
- 1 tsp Oregano
- 1 tsp Basil
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp Oil
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil, add the pasta and cook until al dente, about 8 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare the Broccoli: Cut the broccoli into small florets and blanch in boiling water for about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Chop Onion and Garlic: Finely dice the onion and mince the garlic.
- Sauté Onion and Garlic: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat, add onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes, then add garlic and sauté briefly.
- Simmer the Sauce: Pour in the chopped tomatoes, oregano, and basil, and let simmer for about 10 minutes until thickened.
- Cream Transformation: Reduce heat and stir in cream and cream cheese until smooth.
- Combine Everything: In a baking dish, mix pasta and broccoli with the sauce until well-coated.
- Add Cheese and Bake: Sprinkle grated cheese on top, bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 20 minutes until golden and bubbling.
Notes
Make-ahead tip: Prepare sauce and pasta a day in advance. For variations, try adding chicken or using different vegetables.
